Homemade brownies. Worth. Every. Bite.
Yes, homemade brownies for a movie time snack each night this weekend. I'm not going to lie. Chinese food. Pasta. Panera Bread bagel. Diner Breakfast. Hot Taco Dip. Homemade turkey and cheese subs. Cherry Slices (yeah, those gummy pieces of candy with the sugar coating the outside...YUMMY). I made my choice and I ate.
The crazy thing is? I have long bemoaned the concept of missing the old way of eating. Missing the innocence Well this weekend I ate more food than normal...yet still no where near what I used to eat. My body is feeling sluggish and bloated from the food. I am actually anxious to get back to a normal routine where I'm eating nutritious foods.
I think I needed a weekend of eating in something reminiscent of the 'old ways'. I needed it to remind me what it used to be. I needed it to show me that what I was missing is NOT what I want! What? A breakthrough????
So what is my plan? I spent the afternoon (yes, on my actual anniversary) prepping my salad fixin's. I cut up fruit and have a big bowl of fruit salad. I'm READY!
So the big debate in my head is this. Weigh myself tomorrow and face the music....or wait until my normal weigh in day on Friday. Hmmmmmm
I'd weight till the normal day and let any temporary fluctuations even themselves out. And yes, homemade brownies are worth it!
ReplyDeleteSounds like we had parallel weekends, but I didn't have homemade brownies!!!! ;-( I'm sure they were better than my ice cream!
ReplyDeleteLots of things to consider about weighing:
Do you usually weigh on Monday? Do you weigh every day? Did you weigh today? Is it gonna make you crazy to see the results of the weekend?
I'd weigh as/when I normally do.
I love that feeling when suddenly you crave a fresh salad.. Granted it does usually come after indulging in a guilty pleasure but the fact that your body is saying "lets get some healthiness in here" is pretty amazing :)
ReplyDeletemmmmm....homemade brownies!! I do not bake homemade anything. I never learned how so if we do cookies/brownies/cakes - it comes from a box but I could sure go for some that are homemade! :)
ReplyDeleteweigh the normal day is my advice
ReplyDeleteWhat's done is done, time to move forward. I have had those weekends though too where I didn't care what I eat and ate like I used too and usually, like you, I was happy to return to normal healthy food :)
ReplyDeleteI make homemade Betty Crocker brownies all the time! *Ü* I HAVE made brownies from scratch, and the kids actually prefer it from the mix. They have been on sale lately ($1 a box or less) and I've been making double batches and sticking the extras in bags for the boys to take in their lunches for a treat.
ReplyDeleteBut ... I can eat horribly and I feel JUST fine. I never WANT to eat healthy, it's always such a challenge!
I'm catching up on my reading and HAVE to comment!
ReplyDeleteYou read my post yesterday about my crappy eating last week, and I totally sympathize with the "feeling sluggish and bloated" stuff. Since Sunday I've eaten really good, and I feel fantastic. I feel skinnier, prettier, and just plain better than I did last week. I firmly believe it's in what I eat. I eat bad last week and I feel awful, I eat good this week and I feel great. :-)
Today as I was headed home for lunch I realized I was actually hungry and I thought it feels good to be hungry, last week I ate just to eat, and this week I'm eating because I need food. :-)
